"Monolaurin"

After reading that mono is caused by a type of herpes virus, my son suggested I take the monolaurin that he took when he had mono. So, I read some more on the internet about it, and it does seem like monolaurin is recommended for HSV 1 & 2, but I don't understand if it it keeps outbreaks from happening or if it cures it. I don't understand how monolaurin could cure herpes. Since it is a virus, it would hide inside your own body cells - theoretically only being susceptible when that cell dies and the virus is released. Is it just based on an assumption that eventually all of our cells die and the monolaurin dissolves the virus that is released until they are all disposed of?

See http://nocureforherpes.com for an explanation of how the virus works and why there's no cure expected any time soon.
