"Stopped using zovirax, (Tagamet thread)"

I ran out of zovirax and had to start considering alternative ways to control my outbreaks...

For a while I was taking 1,000mg vitamin C + B Multivitamin Morning night, had some prodromo but no real tough outbreaks.

I've been off zovirax since September. I had a non genital wart on my arm for months and a friend reccomended I take OTC Heartburn medicine to get rid of the wart. It works fine as a wart remover and as I investigated further I thought it might have potential as a herpes treatment (at its cost, what did i have to lose)

However, I am having a very persistent outbreak now, and in conjunction with the tagamet am not feeling any of the relief that acyclovir provides (granted that's only marginally better than nothing at all) Its not safe for me to say that I would NOT be using tagamet for an outbreak again as I did experience what i believe to be one aborted outbreak completely (while i was using it to get rid of the wart) had a long prodromo episode with sciatica

I dont know where this thread is going, perhaps im looking for insight into the drug is anyone else taking it? its very cheap and can be purchased OTC thats why im still even considering it as a possible treatment. but after this outbreak it seems minimally effective (although sometimes acyclovir is equally as effective after the outbreak has started)

Try Lysine. take 2 per day (I usually take one in the morning and one at night). Wear Cotton undies (I do this during the day and often sleep with nothing on at night to "air out" lol). Drink ALOT of water. Sleep as much as humanly possible.
I've also heard of some things that may sound insane but i've done them in INTENSE outbreaks...I've put Germ X directly on the outbreak (very painful, but surprisingly relieving) also wash with peroxide.

the key is to dry out the sores and keep 'em dry. The way a nurse explained it to me, is that the virus can only live in moisture. if you rub an open sore you carry the virus on your hand, but once it dries, its pretty much impossible to rub that hand on someone else and infect them. SO dry them puppies out!

I've heard of Lysine no less than 1250mg daily, zinc and also some natural supplement called: Herpanacine.

Good luck!
