wow, well i dont know if you saw my post on the lectroject thread, but i have not had any obs since starting to drink 2-4 cups of green tea a day also...maybe there is something too it...i, like you have only had it for about 6mos so it may be immune system kicking in.....i wish someone who has had it longer with a regular pattern of obs would try it so we had a better idea if it is doing anything.......or i could just stop and see what happens, kinda scared to do that though.

I was given gonherrea (not sure of spelling) when I was in my 3rd trimester with my second child in 1986 by my ex-husband. It was never disclosed to me until 10 years later when I lived in another state and my PCP was reviewing my medical records. I probably got hsv sometime after that as I did not divorce until 1991. I never knew I had it until March of 2006 when it was discovered embedded in my left sinus cavity and my genitals. It was so severe I was put on daily Valtrex for almost 9 months. I had been diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 1995 but nobody took it as a real disease. After the hsv diagnoses my fibomyalgia became uncontrollable. I was bedridden for months through 2007. My weight began to go out of control where I had previously been 5'10 and 130 pounds, it went to 165. I was referred to a rheumatolgy clinic and entered a trial program for a new fibromyalgia drug that is in the process of getting FDA approval. I started the drug on 11/19/2007. It is called milnacipran and is a noreneprine/serotonin reuptake inhibitor (NSRI). I was and still am under a great deal of financial stress and was not able to work. Whenever i previously had an outbreak I would have to take valtrex and it seemed like it was happening weekly. As I finished the trial program I was put into an open study program for the milnacipran. It still wasn't getting the hsv under control and my weight was not going up but it wasn't going down and I still had no energy. I made a radical decision to change my diet based upon reading a small book by a Dr. Norman Walker called "Becoming Younger". Dr. Walker first published this book in 1949. He lived to be over 100 years old.
I only drink water with no ice and lemonade. I use a product called Simply Lemonade as it is not made with high fructose corn syrup. I have been able to stop the massive sugar and chocolate cravings by no longer eating any breads or cereals. I eat carrots, or any other cooked or raw vegetables for breakfast, hardboiled eggs, fish, chicken, and lots of vegetables and fruits. Has it been difficult? You bet, but it has been worth it. I have lost over 15 pounds in the last six weeks, my energy has risen dramatically, and I have started a new job. I still have tremendous stress, so I do drink green tea somtimes with honey or agave nectar. When I feel the signs of an outbreak now I take some chinese herbs for my sinus flareup called Pei Min and I take Astra Isatis at the same time, at the first sign of a genital flareup. I use Herpecin LC on my lips and I will put some on a genital sore. This usually stops it in 1 to 3 days. If I feel it is worse I take 1 alcyclovir. I haven't had to do more than that in over six months. I have not taken Valtrex since January 2008. This is what works for me. Each person is different and before taking any chinese herbs you should check with a practioner as there are several combinations and they have a quick way of a person holding one bottle and the body will tell thenm which is the corect combination. The green tea helps to flush the water retention from your liver and kidneys. Remember, everything you put in your body will either help "feed" the hsv or help to stop it flaring. I also do not eat potatoes or tomatoes as they are apart of the nightshade family which is poisonous. Do I miss red meat, chocalate, potatoes, chips, etc.? Yes I do. I just do not miss being incapacitated, bedridden, pudgy, and generally miserable. I am 50 years old and I look better now than ever. It's your body and you only get one, so take good care of it. I sincerely hope this is helpful and I wish all of you the very best. Many Blessings, Melissa

I am elated to hear about your success with diet!!!!! I, too, am completely convinced that I have a diet/ob connection. Tomatoes, citrus, all whole grains, soy, shellfish, sour pickled anything, eating large amounts of food, chocolate, nuts, seeds, so much triggers obs for me. I believe that the connection for me is the acid/alkaline balance. Anything that leaves an acid residue in my body triggers an ob, including many meds and the lactic acid that exercise often creates. I want to thank you so much for sharing your story. Lots of water, fruits, vegetables, and clean proteins like fish, chicken and eggs. My partner has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia since contracting this h virus and I believe the h virus triggered the fibromyalgia. Thank you so much - I am really going to think about everything you have said here. I have had a really rough time with this virus also.

I am glad to hear from you! It's so hard to deal with hsv. If I have a stress on one day, the next I will have a sore on my lip, or on my elbow. As long as I attack it early now I can get it under control in one day, if not several hours. It's a maintenance issue. Yes, I do believe the hsv triggered my firbomyalgia to explode. It got so bad in 2006/2007 I would feel as if I could not even sit up in a chair. I had my legs feeling as if they could not support me sitting down. Getting the one under control has helped to control the other. It is a daily balancing act. I would rather have this then to go back to feeling as if I was never going to recover. Changing my diet has eliminated the swelling around my joints, reduced the inflammation to a more maageable level. I herniated 2 discs in my back in April 2005 and had to have major back surgery after 3 months of nothing working. Yet no one can say why my back disintergrated. I believe it is tied to the hsv. I had symptoms for years, looking back, once the diagnosis was made, but I never knew what to look for. The government stopped requiring testing for hsv in 1986. I have been tested for lyme disease, celiac disease, allergy testing, etc., etc.. In all those years no one EVER looked for hsv. I have been called all kinds of names by different doctors as fibromyalgia was never a "real disease". Even my orthorpaedic spinal surgeon in 2005 said he did not believe fibromyalgia was a real disease. I have tried every kind of homeopathic treatment, chiropractic, you name it, I've tried it. The best thing that has helped besides what I already wrote has benn changing my diet. I have only 2 swollen joints left, on the inside and just below my knees. I can tell if they start to throb that I am constipated or my body is preparing to have a bowel movement. I know this is not the most pleasant subject, but I have suffered from chronic constipation and have required and still have percocet for my back. I use it so sparingly, not because I don't want the pain relief, I can't take the complications of the drug. Since I changerd my diet my back pain has decreased dramatically. I sincerely urge your friend with fibromyalgia to modify their diet. It will provide the most help and I wish my doctors had stressed that more than have another presription of something. I wish you the very best, and again Many Blessings, Melissa

Thank you. Let's stay in touch. I am about to try and clean my diet up a little more so I will be talking to you soon. Perhaps you can encourage me. Staying on real austere diets is hard for me but your story is truly inspiring.

I hate diets. I have tried slimfast and other diet pills. They would help shrink my waist a little but no weight loss. This is not a diet, this is a lifestyle change. I love chocolate of any form, but if there was anything in the house I ate it. I have craved it so bad at times I would eat dry cocoa mix, drink hershey's syrup, eat anything with any form of chocolate whatsoever. I've been told that it is the serotonin my body was really craving. Since I've eliminated alot of foods that have sugar in them such as breads, (NOT something you think of as containing sugar) I do not have the up and down sugar crash. I do not use caffiene as it triggers the fibromyalgia. This has been a trial and error program. You are just going to have to see what your body reacts to. I will say that if you are craving a certain food it is probably the wrong thing for you. I don't understand why, I have just learned that if I'm craving it there's something else my body is looking for. As I have detoxed from all the stuff I used to cram into my body (and I never felt full) I now have more normal hunger pangs, and when I eat now, I feel full, something that rarely happened before I changed my diet, no matter how much I ate. I really wish you good luck on the rest of your journey and will be happy to stay in contact. Melissa

I've had H for about 7 years now and over that seven years I have tried several things.

H-Balm - works great most times in getting the outbreak under control but for the most part it provides a great deal of relief from the pain itself.

Lysine - tried it, didn't work

Based on a report from a few years back, Tagemet was said to work for some. I tried it, didn't do a thing!

Blistex - worked on helping control the pain a little

In the end, my chosen therapy is Valtrex AND H-Balm. I use the balm to help with the pain while Valtrex does it's job on the inside.

i dont get much for genital obs but i get cold sores quite often.
i tried lysine when i first found out i had hsv-2 but it did nothing but make my hands smell funny. so i gave up on the "herbal treatment" type stuff.

i agree with yoshi, i use valtrex for both hsv-1 and hsv-2 when i first feel the tingly feeling and that helps speed up healing time.
i also had some zovirax cream (prescribed for a cold sore) sometimes it seems like it works, and other times it doesnt.

i usually put perioxide on the cold sore or ob and that helps some too, it can sting a little. then sometimes i also put neosporin on it.
s
o thats what i do...

I just found out I have hsv-2, and I've noticed a few people commenting on coconut oil. I've been using Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps anyways, and was wondering if anyone has any luck with either comfort/healing using the same thing, which happens to have coconut oil in it (along with hemp, olive and jojoba oil, vitamin e, all organic) . I personally love the stuff for all things--even washing clothing, shampoo, and as a mouth gargle. I use the peppermint variety, and have only the mildest ob right now. The magic soap is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. I also find the Epsom salt bath twice a day with a good book to be helping immensely, and follow that up with careful drying and a sprinkle of regular strength Gold Bond--some say it hurts or is painful, but I find that it feels good as long as you don't overdue it. I'm taking Valtrex right now, but it's too early to tell what it's going to do. I'm also going to try out H-Balm because it seems to be a good thing compared to some of the other iffy things being sold. I have upped my vitamin c intake, along with magnesium and zinc, eat well, drink tons of water, and green tea. I'm also curious about the lemon balm--we'll see what happens.
Bright Blessings!

I have had this herpes disease HSV2 since March 2005. Between March and May I had 4 outbreaks. Since the beginning of June I have been using Purell with Aloe (No reason for the aloe it was simply sitting in my medicine cabinet) 3 times per day. Once in the morning after I shower, again after I arrive home from work, and again before I go to bed.

So far I have been outbreak free, I realize it has only been a little over 4 months but considering how often I was getting it before it feels like a cure.

The outbreaks occur at the base of my shaft and I only put the Purell there.

As far as "triggers" are concerned, I eat nuts, drink coffee, and endure alot of stress.

Please try it yourself, maybe there is something to it. I only use a drop or two sometimes it burns, so don't over do it.

I am somewhat heartened that Pfizer is the owner of Purell and they do not seem to have any Herpes drugs in their pipeline. If people discover that this works, I am sure they will properly study it.

Please post your experiences.

Well, I think... what has helped would be a better title. I have done the oxygen therapy years ago. That didn't work. I even did some zapper thing from Dr. Hulda Clark. That didn't work either.

Though the Purell message intrigued me, I bought some today. The one with Aloe in it. Did you notice it has Vitamin E in it as well? This may be another reason it works. I have heard about vitamin E helping OB's. Tonight about 5 minutes ago was my first attempt with it. So I can't really post anything yet. But just wanted to let you know that I was trying it. Though I have noticed my itching is gone between using the alcohol and Purell with Aloe. I am on Day 2 of my outbreak.

My normal outbreak routine consists of rubbing alcohol. I break all the blisters with a pin and dab rubbing alcohol on my OB with a Kleenex or cotton ball. I do this several times throughout the day for about the first 2 days, sometimes 3 depending on the severity of the OB. Then it usually dries out too much. So then I put "Moisturel" lotion over the OB. If the OB is not completely dried, the Moisturel will sometimes reactive it. So be careful and make sure it's gone. During the first 2 to 3 days of the blistering stage I also coat the blisters with baby powder before bed to help dry them up.

I get my outbreaks on my chin. So if it were regular HSV2 I probably wouldn't even care that it was all dried up. But on my face, it's awful looking.

Tara

   Hi Tara:

Tara, thanks for trying this, I also noticed that when I first used the Purell it stopped the itchiness. Hopefully it will work for you too.

How long have you had your outbreaks? How often do you get them?

I have detailed my experiences at another website, here is the link

http://www.herpes-coldsores.com/messageforum/viewtopic.php?t=2983

The only thing I can add, is that I am still outbreak free (almost 5 months), however, about 2 days ago I noticed three small bumps almost like three pimples starting to appear in a different area from where I originally got my outbreaks. This time not on my shaft but on my body or pubic area. I applied the Purell there about 4 times per day since, and the irritation has practically disappeared. Now I don't know if this was HSV or simply an actual pimple, but I will keep you posted if it comes back.

I have had hsv2 for 20 years, am 40 now. Over the years I have suffered and survived. But recently over the last 2 years, I have not had an outbreak, I use Garlic and L lysine and also zinc picolate. I take 22mgx2 per day of zinc picolate, I take 2 L lysine tabs each day, 1000 mg x2. I also eat 3 garlic cloves per day, I chew them. Once I ran out of Lysine and other vits and was on the garlic only, this went on for 3 months. I believe the Garlic has worked miracles for me. I chew it very very quickly and wash it down with a glass of water, I have not gotten sick in any way, not even a cold, since I have been taking the garlic and have had no outbreaks. from Tracy

Congratulations! I'm not suprised that this combination works. Zinc has been indicated as a potential treatment for herpes either taken orally or topically, garlic is just great. Chewing it a little prevents burning your gums. But 3 garlic cloves per day should be maximum; I just can't eat garlic myself so I had to find something else. But for people who can eat it, it is just great. My idea is that you can stop using lysine. Long-term lysine intake could be harmful if depleted your body of arginine too much. Arginine supports the heart and other vital fuctions... Maybe some vitamin C instead.

Cheers,

Nathalie

I stumbled across this marvel by accident. I was reading on cortsol blockers a their effects on wieght loss. Just trying to trim up a bit like everyone else. I disscovered that Phosphatidyl Serine was a great cortisol blocker. Cortisol is a chemical your brain produces the first hour after you wake in the morning, after you workout and and hour after you go to sleep. Cortisol is produced by stress. I went to GNC and I found a product called Corti Trace. It had Phosphatidyl Serine in it, Plus the cleck suggest it because of a few other ingredients. One being L- Threonine a stress reducer. I'm not a doctor or anywhere close. What I do know is my breakouts went from once to twice a month to once in 8 months. And I'm pretty sure I can contribute that breakout to the 15 to 20(lost count) alchoholic beverages I drank the night before which made me really sick the next day. I've never read any thing about Corti Trace and Herpes anywhere. But I'm not going to stop taking it. Suck that its about 60$ amonth though.

A nosode is kind of homeopathic remedy that's made from diseased tissue. The most common ones are those made from scabies, syphilis, gonorrhea and tuberculosis.

i went to this website and looked up the PHP hrpz *** Commercial link removed ***

Did you order it online?
Did you ask your doctor about it?

The one on this website comes with HRPZ Formula III, Cellular Oxygenator, Viraplex and Immunocomplex, Natures Defense powder and Vitamin C Ascorbate (10 oz powder) and is on sale for $195 is that the right one?

I found out i had herpes 7 days ago and have been taking valtrex since.

I just found out I had H, but I think I have had it for years and just didn't realize it. The doctor did a titer test (?) and said that it showed I hadn't been recently exposed to the virus... My ex boyfriend had a cold sore when we first started dating 5 years ago, so I'm assuming I got it from him. He never had any other signs in all this time, but he also ate garlic every day, so maybe that is why?

I've been noticing ob's pretty frequently the last few months, like 1-2 a month, which I attribute to the stress I have been under.

I got Acyclovir from the doctor and took it studiously during my last ob and it seemed to have absolutely no effect, the ob lasted about 10 days, which is normal. I noticed an ob beginning just the other day and started on 10-15 drops of grapefruit seed extract three times a day and within 2 days, the ob is hardly noticeable.

GSE is a super duper natural anti-viral which has worked wonders for me keeping away colds and flus, so I figured it might work for the H virus. So far, I'm impressed with it, and I think I will keep taking it every day as a maintenance thing and see if the ob's stop..

I will keep you posted, and I'd love to hear anyone else's results with this. You can buy GSE at most health food stores.

History - HSV for over 20 years. The first 17 years were very mild; perhaps 3 or 4 times a year.

3 years ago, after a very stressful period in my life, the virus became uncontrollable. This past year has been the worst yet . . . outbreaks every single day. Everyday I either had an outbreak, or had symptoms. I was taking Famvir twice a day (suppressive dose) and it was doing nothing.

I decided to try something different thinking that perhaps the Famvir wasn't working because my body was lacking something but I wasn't sure what. I decided to start taking my pills with Airborne (website is www.airbornehealth.com). And no, I am in no way affiliated with them.

The next day I did not have an outbreak. Thought it was probably a coincidence. I continued on the Famvir/Airborne cocktail and I went 8 days without an outbreak and without symptoms. I then had two back to back outbreaks lasting 7 days even though I was still taking famvir and Airborne. After the outbreak I continued to take this cocktail and I am now on my 13th symptom free day.

I am still taking both Famvir and Airborne because I can't image that Airborne alone would do anything, but the combination of the two is working for me.

I have H for last 2 years, initial 3 months=4OB started suppressive aciclovir was almost outbreak free for the last 2 years, decided to stop and try natural stuff. Currently on natural stuff for last 2+ months and ob free I use:

1) Olive leaf extract (500 mg 15% Oleuprin 3-4 tabs a day)
2) Purell hand sanitizer one application a day.
3) Vitamin C 8 grams a day
4) Kyolic aged Garlic extract 1 to 2 caps a day
5) Green Tea extract 1-2 caps a day

Seems this combination is working for me.

8 grams of Vitamin C daily may promote the formation of bladder or kidney stones in the long-run. You may wish to document yourself about that.
I also take garlic but cut raw garlic in a glass of water twice daily (3cloves) when I feel the slightest itch down there. I'm very satisfied with that too.

Cheers,

Nathalie

It is my doctor who told me that and after doing little research on pubmed here is what I found. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=15987848&query_hl=1&itool=pubmed_docsum
I was merely trying to help you by telling you about the fact that there
is a concern about Vitamin C excessive consumption. Not everybody agrees
and that is why I said "may promote" and suggested you do your own research.
Now do what you will.

This might sound naive but is there no 'overall' pill/drops that some pharmaceutical company has come up with that combines all these things? Seems there's be a huge market for it and it would be much less hassle than popping tonnes of pills!

It would be a pretty big pill.. What I got from the post that you responded to is that she had been on effective antiviral suppressive treatment for two years and then quit. I honestly have to wonder if she would have had outbreaks even without the combination. My first wife had bad outbreaks initially and used acyclovir suppressively for two years and quit with no herbal/alternative meds and has been relatively outbreak free for the subsequent 8 years or so.

The thing is that the majority of people find that their herpes symptoms get a lot better with time, even in absence of treatments. The clever immune system learns how to deal with the virus over time.

   Hey Rajah,

So your wife had bad outbreaks initially and after a couple of years of suppressive therapy she has been ob free for about 8 years? That does show that the immunes system is very strong and capable. Do you know if she had the burning buttocks and legs during these bad initial ob's? I am pretty much over my initial but still have buttock and thigh burning sensations and I hope that they will go away soon. Anyhow, what about your initial pattern, was it bad, how long did it take to get better? Please let me know as I am trying to get answers from anyone who has been dealing with this for a substantial period of time.

I have to clarify, though, that I'm not really in contact with her now, even though she only lives a couple miles away. The last time I had an actual conversation regarding this with her was about 5 years ago.

To answer the question about the burning sensations.. No, it was just the discomfort with the OB itself.

My initial genital OB was fairly mild, although there have been a very few times since then when I've noticed a moderate burning sensation on my upper thighs and finally associated them with herpes. They only lasted a couple days and felt like I had a bit of a sunburn on my legs in spite of not being in the Sun.

Thanks for the update Rajah. I am just having pretty constant sunburn like feelings in my buttocks and thighs right now. It is starting to make me go crazy b/c I can't really focus on anything but this pain. If I could only get a break from it and catch my senses. I think I may need to see a neuorologist. But then again just getting over initial ob so maybe it will take a little while for my nerves to calm down. I hope to God that is it and that they calm down soon.

That might help. A neurologist might be a good idea if it persists. My experience with neurologists is that they admit that there are a lot of neurological situations where they just never figure out what's going on. I didn't see a neurologist about herpes related issues, though.

I have had hsv2 for 8 yrs. I know my body very well so I can always feel when I'm having a break out. I have tried:

Tagamet
Olive Leaf Pills - works to prevent ob when I feel it coming on

Carmex
Herpecin-L
Red Wine - i've dabbed and soaked
Olive leaf extract
Crushed garlic
Peroxide
Clorox - really burns and skin surrounding area too

each at separate times (not together) directly on sores. I have mixed Red wine and crushed garlic or peroxide and and crushed garlic. They didn't stop the obs completely but outbreaks do not reoccur in the same area. And yes, the clorox, olive leaf extract and crushed garlic burn. I know a lot of people frown on diet pills but I have been taking Phentermine for the past 4 months. My obs have completely stoped with no pre symptoms either. I've done these pills b-4 and I looked back at my journal (I keep track of my obs) the last time I was taking them and didn't have obs then either. I don't know of any such studies but I can tell you it is working for me.

Tea tree oil on OB and Eucalyptus oil on OB works very fast at healing and irritation. Eating well, meditation, and keeping stress down is the real key for me. I hope this helps!

1000 mg L-Lysine (will probably need to stop this eventually thought)
Aviralex - apply during OB (zaps the OB so quickly)
Lemon Balm - soothing when needed
Immune boosting Supplement
Sleep!

I cant tell exactly which one is the contributing factor of my freedom from SEVERE OBs for the last 6 months (I have sufferd for 5 years). I know that as soon as I applied the Aviralex, a stubborn sore cleared up immediately and I have not had one since. I think though it was a coincidence and that this is a result of the combination of all 5 above.

Every single body is so different, I really think it is a matter of trial and error. You will get there!

Congratulations on your good results. It's always nice to hear it when people control their symptoms well. I feel it gives courage to the rest of us.

Has anyone used Herp-eeze? I came across it when doing research for good prunella vulgaris products. It seems great. It doesn't seem to be really known though.

Could you tell us if you use a multi-vitamin supplements? I get great results from supplementing in certain vitamins and minerals.

I'm glad aviralex works well for you because I was unsure about this product. It contains lemon balm also. I think that's what makes it more valuable than Choraphor. I'll add it to my page about OTC remedies for genital herpes soon. I get really wary of new products. I think it is very expensive also. Could you tell me how long does a bottle last?

What I like about aviralex's company is that unlike Choraphor's company they don't try to hide that their product contains copper sulfate. Here is what wikipedia says about copper sulfate."Like most other copper compounds, copper sulfate is poisonous to humans.". It is also considered a skin sensitizer and can cause allergic reactions in some individuals. Skin contact may result in itching or eczema but several people reported the same results as you did with either choraphor or aviralex, some even call it a cure but we know that's way overstated.

Cheers,

Nathalie

About 5 years ago after i found out i had H . I went to the doctor and he prescribed Zovirex .The third time i called him about an out break he sent me direct to a Dermatologist. This guy told me if i could come back just as the blisters started to appear he could inject me with Interferon at the site and it would kill the virus .Since this isnt an approved treatment my insurance wouldnt cover it.No problem ,he said it would be about 100 dollars .A bargin i thought .Now try to get into see a doctor, especially a specialist with out an appointment made days or weeks ahead of time .Well 5 years later here i am still having two to 4 out breaks a year. Never have heard of using Interferon since . Arnie

Has anyone here tried tea tree oil? Nothing worked for me (not even Valtrex) until I started applying tea tree oil. My symptoms immediately started clearing up and all burning/itchiness/redness went away. I could pee again! Heehee. It was fabulous. I highly recommend it!

I use tea tree oil and eucalyptus. They both work well when the sensation or tingeling starts up. They are also great to apply on to sores for very quick healing and to stop the itching. Nothing works better on sores for me!

Since some of you have actually tried this produce - I'm hoping y'all will vote on the poll that I've put together. There is a link on the page. It will take you to my STD Talk message board. THAT link is in my signature.

I'm so glad I found this board. There are so many different suggestions to try. I've been having outbreaks for about six or seven years now, and so far the only things I've tried are Valtrex, which made me feel so awful I stopped taking it, and rubbing alcohol on the sores which seems to work well, but stings really bad. If the outbreak is bad, I'm willing to put up with about 5 minutes of stinging to get it to clear up faster. I usually put a small amount on the end of a Q-tip and apply it to the area once and it's usually gone in a day or so. I think I might try tea tree oil. Does this sting as well?

I don't know whether you're male or female, but I'm female and I would get exactly one sore in the same spot on the inside of my labia about once every two months until I started applying Bag Balm to the area every morning. Now I get zero outbreaks ever, and the Bag Balm helps moisturize. It's the best for my purposes.

I stopped getting outbreaks after I started taking 500mg vitamin C and 1000 MG Lysine daily.

I have had it for about 10 years and I was starting to get outbreaks every few weeks last year for some reason.

I have used Chorophor for the few times that I got an outbreak and I noticed that the site of the outbreaks has changed. I never get them near my vagina anymore - only near my anus but never right there. It took several OBs for it to get to that point and each one was further and further away from vagina, the orignal OB site. This was the same site 7-8 years. It is odd. I just wonder how far it will go back. Chorophor has made the outbreaks less severe, as well.

But, my daily Lysine and Vitamin C supplements have been a blessing!

Hi! I have found homeopathy to be incredibly effective in controlling outbreaks. I am using Rhus Tox (varying in dosages) and it always stops my outbreaks immediately. I'm still working on a complete cure and feel Rhus Tox (the right potency) could be it (at least for me). I have had HSVII for over 30 years. Anyone else use homeopathy?

I do. I'm a big advocate of homeopathy. Rhus tox is great but I use several homeopathic remedies at the same time.

I keep telling people how homeopathy is great but they don't always listen because it is so revolutionary even today.

Thank you so much for your testimonial maybe this will help more people listen and give homeopathy a try.

i have not tried the silver or the olive leaf extract...but i do use the oil of oregano & it has worked amazingly. i have had pretty bad outbreaks for over 2 years and now i rarely have them. i take the oil of oregano every day orally as directed on the bottle (it tastes AWFUL, but worth it). also, you can apply it topically if you do have an outbreak and this helps it to clear up muchmuchmuch faster. i will have to try the other two though.

I had herpes for 25 years and tried basically everything mentioned with varying results, until I decided to try an experiment ...take Tagamet (cimetidine) buy it cheap over the counter and use it as an anal suppository for several weeks (you will know how long is needed for you will feel when the virus is gone ...at least I did). At the time I was constantly manifesting the dis-ease. Since then (one year) not one tingle of anything. I used to feel it immediately if I ate corn chips or peanuts or popcorn. No more...total freedom. I asked my doctor to test me to prove it gone, but she refused since the medical system pretends there is no cure. More on Tagemet at www.lef.org God is good!

I'm glad you're not feeling symptoms anymore.

I suppose you could always go to a clinic--somewhere where they don't know you--and just say you want a type-specific IgG blood test for HSV to see if it still shows up.

Melissa-

I'm happy you've been able to control/eliminate your herpes symptoms.

I don't believe the medical or scientific communities are working against you by claiming a cure doesn't exist. If you wish to prove your HSV status, there are plenty of doctors who will offer HSV testing. Additionally, you can obtain these tests online.

The link you provided does not refer to Tagamet as a "cure". Rather, "...the drug cimetidine (sold over-the-counter as Tagamet) is highly effective in shortening the duration or preventing the outbreaks of herpes and shingles". The majority of data provided on this site is in relation to herpes zoster (shingles). Not one addressed study was focused specifically on genital herpes or offered information on reduced viral shedding.

"Herpes simplex and herpes zoster are viral diseases that can be kept in remission by a healthy immune system". Tagamet or not, the virus remains in the body. Deeming Tagamet a cure is incorrect. It is estimated 90% of people positive for HSV2 are unaware of their status due to mild or no symptoms. Lack of symptoms does not equate a cure or negative status.

Melissa, I'm delighted you've found symptom-relief and I thank you for sharing your experiences. My statements are not created to attack you directly. I simply do not want anyone to be duped into thinking Tagamet is a cure.

Wishing you continued success!

Hakuna Matata...it means NO WORRIES!

I have been looking for anything over the counter to deal with some of my side effects as I am having continual outbreaks even though I am on a daily regimen of Valtrex as I also have it embedded in my left sinus. I was going to use Tagamet however after discussion with my doctor I am avoiding it for the following reasons. While it can help alleviate symptoms it is also blocking absorbtion of calcium. If it is taken continuosly (longer than 3 days) one's body will begin to pull the calcium from your bones. Short term use is not a problem hwever if someone has any other health issues or age related issues it can lead to osteoprosis. I've already got serious bone issues so if someone has any other recommendations I would really appreciate them.

Please be careful with this antibiotic. Yes, oil of oregano is a natural and very potent antibiotic (and antiviral) that also kills GOOD bacteria. Just because something is found in nature doesn't mean it can't be harsh or harsher than conventional meds. This is not an herb for long term use. Not even an herb for regular use. In the world of herbalism, it is a last resort kind of herb when used internally. Not one you would start with. (You generally begin with the safest, most nourishing herbs. Oatstraw or Lemon balm tea or infusion would be an example of this for herpes, to gently, safely nourish the nervous system.)

I haven't been on this forum forever. One reason is that I realized I needed a deeper understanding of my body, how herpes affects me individually, and more possibilities to interact with people who had interest a deeper, more holistic understanding of health. One forum I would suggest for that if you are interested in alternative health is Susun Weed's Wise Woman Forum. I learned so much from people there about how to nourish my body to reduce outbreaks. I know people on Racoon all (mostly) have good intentions. But the culture sometimes seems to be either an extreme of a worshipping of the scientific, heroic medical model, or the go way out on a limb miracle cure.

Today as I come back to Racoon, I find so many people in the alternative section perpetuating the same mentality that made me feel so sad here. So much talk of quick fixes and obscure "cures", that usually involve products, marketing, and a chunk of change. Not that I wouldn't love a miracle cure myself. But this attitude can make one quite vulnerable and also draw us away from listening to our bodies and listening to herpes, both of which I believe are essential in returning to optimal health. I know that may be a foreign language and not everyone's cup of tea. So go where you're nourished. For me it's where people aren't so quickly jumping to suggest potions or products they barely understand. That said, I have always appreciated this forum, the generosity of the moderators, and the freedom of speech here. So rock on! And please, take care and promote respect for yourself and others by fully researching anything you advise for others to use.

I know that I used some OTC acne cream with Hydrogen Peroxide in it and it helped a few sores. Or at leat dried them up. Its so strong that it bleached the color of my panties. On the label it warns you of bleaching clothing material if it comes into contact with it. It's supposed to be acne treatment for your face, but if it's safe enough for my face, I figure it may be safe enough for my vaginal area. What ya think?
I thought that I would add that I am not ob free. But it does help in an act of desperation.

Its not a tazer. This device polarizes the viral capsid (virus shell). Shingles, herpes, cold sores all have a viral shell that can be Polorized.

Vygone uses a wave form (RF frequency) not a an electric shock.

Any poster who says it doesnt work has never used it. This is a new break through in the last few months and it has changed my life.

The posters who say this doesnt work are just spammers for their products.

so she's definitely not a spammer. I looked at the product website. It's the same gadget that's been sold on the Internet for as long as I can remember with several different names. It's basically a "zapper" and really is no different than a quack machine I own as a curiosity from about 1910 although the circuitry is more modern and compact. The internal parts cost about $2.00 plus the 9 volt battery. as Howl says, there's no basis in science for the claims.

The medical or scientific reason is that all of the diseases listed are viruses that can be polarized.

Shingles, Herpes and warts can be polarized causing them to be ineffective or less effective.

Plain electric shock is wacky and has been around for a while. polarization is recent and works well.

At the first sight of a well developped cold sore, I open the sore with a kleenex and I apply two drops with the help of a qtip on the opened sore. It burns a couple of minutes and dry completely the sore and it forms a dry blue dot. Healing is much faster. Drying it is an hour or two and it is a big relief for me. Making the scab dissapear is 2 or 3 days max. This is my first line of defense and my last for now.

Hope to have a vaccine or something else more permanent someday though.

I bought the device and I have to say that it worked so good that when I lost my first vygone I bought a second vygone and am hoping to find my first so I can keep one at my home and one at my office.

You know how important it is to start taking care of cold sores as soon as you feel them coming on.

I just ordered my second vygone zapper because I lost my first one... I loved and used my first one for a few years. I am hopefull that I will find my first one and be able to have one that I keep at my office and one that I keep at my work.

I love this vygone thing and have and will recommend it to anyone out there with cold sores.

I was in the technical forum for awhile, the how can I help.. didn't know where to get info and some of the medically minded/biology types that knew more about the cell structure than I did. Nice to see there is someone else looking for a cure along the same mindset as me. If this is where a bulk of information sharing regarding a cure will occur I will hang out here for awhile. I also have the cure "obsession"... within my lifetime. I have tried dynamiclear,it did alright. Tea tree oil did the best for me to heal the OB. There's a smell associated with it, but the OB goes away in about 2-3 days. But that's all post OB. I'm more interested in prevention of OB or eradication of the virus. I looked into DMSO, but didn't want to try it. As far as I know DMSO hooks on to things to pass through a membrane. As a topical, it could help heal the skin if it has the healing agent mixed with it. It still doesn't get to the home of the virus in sacrum. If there is a known virus killer, DMSO may be able to get it through the membrane where the virus takes up residence. Internal damage of cells or tissue due to the DMSO? I don't know yet, still not willing to try.

Known virus killers? especially natural ones? ultraviolet light, garlic and vinegar. Apple cider vinegar appears to be better if there is a possibility of internal applications. But if there is sugar or other ingredients, that may not be best either. Correct me if I'm wrong (Females..? please?) isn't vinegar used in common douches? cleansing? Could this information be used to help? Light seems to kill the virus, however the virus is in a place where the sun doesn't shine. Does light kill the just the virus or the entire cell? Does vinegar or garlic kill cells? I haven't done enough research to try.. but.. if the problem with a cure is not being able to get to the source, what are the complications of a vinegar enema? If vinegar does not kill cells but does kill a virus,THEN I could see the usefullness of DMSO.. if DMSO does NOT harm the cell either. I'm still doing research before I subject myself to something like that.

until then, I've added this to my diet...
Oil and vinegar: $20
Garlic: $5
BHT: $12

Having less outbreaks: priceless
****************
Not a cure, but seems to help with outbreaks. I combine 3 virus combatants in a tasty little treat. Garlic and vinegar alone was reason enough for me to try this recipe, without the addition of BHT.

I have made this little recipe about once every 3 days, sometimes using regular bread if I don’t have anything else. Olive oil and Balsamic Vinegar make a good dip for breads, I just add garlic powder but you can get fancy if you like.

Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar: any grocery store
Garlic; any grocery store
http://www.foodsubs.com/Garlic.html

Additionally: there is claim that BHT helps in the fight of outbreaks.
“They used dosages in the 250 to 3000 mg. per day” seems like too much when compared to the recommended use on the bottle itself.
http://www.advance-health.com/bht.html
…as a preservative; “Add 1 capsule to 1 quart of cooking oil to preserve freshness”. I added it to the olive oil... to preserve freshness. The capsule didn’t dissolve so I opened it and poured the contents into a full bottle of olive oil.

Any response? Am I out of my mind? way off base? Does it seem possible?

It's an industrial solvent and has too much downside, besides not actually getting to the root of the problem, as you noted, in the sacral ganglia.

I'm not one of the bio-technical ones here, BTW. You might, if you haven't already, take a look at our site at http://nocureforherpes.com that explains why a cure, as in actually removing the virus from the infected cells, is not likely in the forseeable future.

The oil and vinegar with some garlic, sounds great as a salad dressing.

I don't know exactly how or why ACV works on herpes but it has helped several people in the past.

You must take it very regularly to get results.
It detoxifies the body and you'll see what I'm talking about if you take it. You should drink ACV in water. Salad dressing is not sufficient.

ACV alone is not enough to keep all outbreaks away but you can include it in your prevention routine.

Kind regards,

I experienced Alopecia after taking Acyclovir, so I decided to give Lysine a second chance and it works very good, but I take 1500 every day.
I have had Herpes for almost 10 years now and my life is very stressfully so after many years the pain has come back or may be first time realizing it , outbreaks with Lysine are very mild now and almost extinct. I have not had sex for a while besides just kissing so i don't know how that will be.

What has worked for me;

I have been using pinecone extract for over a year now. It has completely put my constant outbreaks to rest.

There is a research institute in Florida that is also studying the efficacy of pine cone extract on HIV and cancer. Has anyone heard of this or tried, thanks.

K

No. What form is it in? Where do you get it? How do you take it? Tell us all about it. Did you make any other changes that could account for putting your constant obs to rest? How long have you had this virus?
