Hope Again
by Charles R. Swindoll
PK says that "I am in the middle of reading this book and it is very good for a
person who is depressed and feels like there is no hope. As Charles Swindoll says,
"If you want to rejoice through times of suffering, just keep reminding yourself that
what you're going through isn't the end of the story..its's simply the rough journey that
leads to the right destination. I recommend this book to anyone who has been going through
what I have been going through on my recent diagnosis of herpes." Check it out!

the prequel to Hope Again which PK recommended. Check it out!
Tessie and
Pearlie, a granddaughter's story by Joy Horowitz
This is the heartwarming story a granddaughter tells of her two grandmothers. It is a
wonderful book that has made me laugh and cry. I had the pleasure of knowing one of the
"bubbes," which makes it all the more meaningful to me, but regardless, it is a
wonderful tribute to two wonderful ladies. This is on Kate's "must-read" list.

A Bright Shining
Lie by Neil Sheehan
This is an ambitious undertaking but a fabulous read for anyone who is interested in the
politics behind the Vietnam Conflict. Sheehan's research makes available political
strategy and thought not even conceived by those writing first-hand accounts of the war
and personalization not possible in the political analyses available.I originally read it
for a book project in high school because the teacher said that I couldn't do it. Now I
would recommend it as one of my all time favorite historical accounts.--Kate

Mad Cowboy:
Plain Truth from the Cattle Rancher Who Won't Eat Meat by Howard F. Lyman
Highly recommended by Ocean. He says that Ex-cattle rancher writes a page turning
non-fiction book on the big pharmaceutical and agricultural businesses, government, Mad
Cow disease, and how it is greatly impacting our health and the health of the planet. This
is the guy, who along with Oprah Winfrey was sued by the Texas cattle industry and won. He
makes some great arguments for a plant based diet that you probably never heard of before.
Find out what it takes for a fourth generation cattle rancher to go vegetarian. Everyone
concerned with health or the health of the environment should read this. Check it out!
